I consider myself a worldly human being who believes that every person on this Earth is a gift. Growing up I found horses to be my own healers in times of pain in my life, I decided I was going to build a farm to help people heal using the animals as facilitators. I built the barn and attained rescue horses that were going to be the facilitators but I could not find a Mental Health Counselor willing to work with the horses to heal the pain of people. I went back to college to become a Mental Health Counselor and found I loved the work and I was good at it. I graduated from Barry University in 2011 with a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Trauma Therapist that took almost three years to complete and I am a Certified Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Mental Health Specialist and an Equine Specialist. As I recently lost my therapy dog, Bentley pictured above, I am currently looking for a new dog to use as a therapy dog. I do offer equine therapy in special circumstances.
I have a family with five children ranging in age of 32 down to 16 and a beautiful Grandson and Granddaughter. We have a small farm with horses, dogs, chickens and cats, along with a patient and wonderful husband. My family is my greatest job and I love being a mom, Nana, wife, sister, daughter and friend.
I have had many life experiences and in my career I have seen many different types of clients and found my specialty to be working with clients who have had trauma and are triggered by their trauma in ways that they continue to get in situations that they do not wish to continue. I am often asked what my specialties are and I always want to reply with: I am passionate about helping my clients heal and lead more productive fulfilling lives no matter where they are... I am willing to meet them and help them get "unstuck." I work at my best with the clients that truly want to make changes and have been to many other therapists before and do not get the help they were looking for. I invite you to allow me to hold space in integrity and honor for you on your path to growth and well-being. My other specialties are working with adult children of addicted parents, adult survivors of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. I also find that I am great with the LGBTQ community as I work primarily with adults and many who are coming out later in life. I am often called for the cases that are challenging and I love that kind of work.
I have a great deal of experience with trauma work, women's issues, parenting, relationships, anxiety, stress, depression and I can go on listing things but I prefer to ask you to call me for a consultation and lets see if we are a good fit. You have nothing to lose and if we are not a good fit, I have an array of wonderful therapist that I can refer you to. Either way, you will be on your way to making the changes you desire in your life with one phone call or text.
I enjoy working with clients that are in recovery from addictions (whether it is substance abuse, sex and love addiction, whatever the case may be) and still need support working through their trauma(s). I am very successful with women who are struggling with any issues at any age or stage of their life. I have a passion for working with women and families that have been affected by Domestic Violence. I am also interested in creating a source of support for parents of children dealing with Autism.
